First, let me say that I did not come up with this diet plan (or the goofy name). I was given this diet plan in 2000 by a friend that lost over 100 lbs on it (over the course of several months).
For me it was an incredible experience. I had never been on a diet before, but needed to lose about 35lbs to reach a healthy weight. I did it in 5 weeks on this diet! You do the math…I averaged losing 1 lb/day while on this diet. Since then I have gone on this diet a few times to shed a few lbs here and there. I have never duplicated that first result, but I regularly drop 3-4 lbs a week when I go on it now.
The truth of the matter is that losing the weight is not the hardest part though. The other benefit to this diet is that once you reach your target weight, you can use these same principles to maintain that weight. I found that by following the diet for breakfast and lunch, you can eat whatever you want for dinner, and from time to time “splurge” for breakfast and lunch as well.
Here are some facts about the diet:
It was developed by a doctor and nutritionist as a healthier alternative to the Atkins Diet.
The goal of the diet is to give your body the nutrients it needs to stay healthy, the protein it needs to keep the metabolism up and prevent muscle decline, and to not give your body anything to burn for energy, thus forcing your body to burn fat.
Following this diet will put your body in a metabolic state known as “ketosis“
This diet will not work if you “cheat”. Even one potato chip will take you out of ketosis, and you will stop burning body fat.
Don’t skip meals on this diet and eat everything you are supposed to. You need to do this to keep your metabolism up. That’s what burns the fat!
Men tend to lose weight faster on this diet than women. Sorry, but it’s true!
Well, that’s about all I can tell you about it. Follow the plan, and you will lose the weight. Adjust your eating habits, and you will keep the weight off. It’s that simple. This diet works with or without exercise. It was designed for people who were extremely overweight and couldn’t exercise due to health reasons. However, adding a small amount of daily exercise (30-45 min / day) will seriously amplify the results. Good Luck! And let me know how it works for you!

Once you have been on the diet for about 3 days, you can go on the accelerated diet. This is where you really loose the weight, but it is not recommended for you to go on it for more than 3 or 4 days in a row. I usually do this when I “hit the wall” and begin to slow down loosing weight on the regular diet. The accelerated diet is the same as above, except you cut out all the bread, fruit & baked potato. On the accelerated diet, you will be hungry, but I typically lose 1-2 lbs a day on it, so it is worth it for a few days. On either diet, make sure you drink LOTS of water, and take a good multi-vitamin (like 1-A-Day complete).
