FASTING. That word can bring up a lot of different reactions from people.
Note: I wrote a pretty long section here detailing my views on fasting, and how they have changed over the years, but realized that no one would want to read all that, so I deleted it. Here’s the short version:
Fasting is important for Christians.
So here’s the deal…I haven’t fasted for a few years. However, God has really convicted me about this, and I have decided to participate in Awaken this year, along with many others at Seacoast Church. I’m actually excited about it, or at least the potential of what will happen. I’ve spent most of this week, breaking my coffee addiction (4-6 cups), and now that the headaches are gone, I think I’m ready. I’m going out this afternoon to shop for my 21 day Daniel Fast, which starts tonight at sundown.
I have learned that setting specific goals are important if you want to accomplish anything, so here are mine:
- Gain a renewed hunger for God’s word.
- Get wisdom for some financial decisions that need to be made in the coming months.
- Wisdom/Grace as we continue to battle for Tania’s health.
One of my resolutions for this year is to journal more, so I’ll probably be sharing at least some of those writings here. I would like to encourage you to join me on this journey if you feel your relationship with God could be more intimate. If you do, leave me a comment to let me know, so I can be praying for you as well.
Let’s do this thing!
